Take part in the Lancaster Challenge to celebrate 80 years since the first flight of the iconic Avro Lancaster. Sign up from the 9 January, the exact date 80 years ago that the aircraft took its first test flight. This challenge is virtual which means you can participate and complete the challenge from anywhere in the world.
The Challenge will start on the 9 January!
Choose to complete 80K, 150K or 500K! You can run, walk, cycle or walk the dog to complete your Challenge. We want you to keep you motivated and moving in Lockdown so you can start your Challenge as soon as you sign up!
The Challenge will close on the 17 May 2021, the anniversary of Operation Chastise.
Once the challenge closes, we will post you an exclusive Lancaster Challenge Medal, it should be landing on your doorstep by the end of May 2021.
By entering the Lancaster Challenge, you are supporting the RAF Museum Charity and enabling us to share the stories of the crews who showed incredible bravery flying missions for Bomber Command.
T-shirt
You can purchase a souvenir t-shirt to be delivered with your medal after the end of the challenge. T-shirts are £14.00 per person. Sizes range from Small to XX Large.
Help us celebrate 80 years since the first flight and continue to share the incredible stories of the crews by fundraising for the RAF Museum. Last year, our amazing Challenge fundraisers raised an additional £24,000 in sponsorship, this year we are hoping to reach £30,000. Postage is included in your entry for those taking part in the UK. For those taking part in Europe and the rest of the world there is a £4.50 postage charge.
All proceeds will go towards the RAF Museum to enable us to continue telling the story of the RAF and the thousands of service men and women who served in it.
Useful information
You will have until 17 May 2021 to submit your distance log, and we will send all medals out in the following weeks.
Once you have signed up to the Lancaster Challenge, all you need to do is download the distance log so you can keep track of your kilometres.

There is no minimum age for this challenge – but we do recommend under 16’s are accompanied by an adult.

This event is owned by the RAF Museum, when you confirm your purchase, you are accepting the following terms and conditions:
• I take part at my own risk and will not hold the RAF Museum responsible for any injury, sickness or loss as a result of my taking part.
• Whilst taking part in the Challenge you will adhere to COVID safety guidelines outlined by the UK Government, or your relevant authority.
• I declare that I am medically fit at the date of this application and that I will not participate in the event unless I am medically fit to do so.
• I agree to the RAF Museum having the right to alter or amend any of the above information
• You agree that we may publish your personal information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events.
• No entries may be resold.
• The Lancaster Challenge is a virtual race organised by the RAF Museum as a registered charity. We therefore ask that all runners wishing to raise funds in conjunction with this event only do so for the RAF Museum, we thank you for respecting this.
• When purchasing entry I understand that the RAF Museum and Nice Work will send communications via email and post that are relevant to the race.
• I understand that the medals and t-shirts will be sent out to the address I register with and this will be after the challenge closes on the 21 May.
