Event Description

Chocks away! Get ready for the Spitfire 10K and Spitfire Family Run!  We are bringing the racing day feeling to you in a new virtual experience.

Spitfire 10K

We are starting the Battle of Britain commemorations with our annual Spitfire 10K event, but in a slightly different format. To ensure the health and wellbeing of all those involved, Spitfire 10K is going virtual! Book your tickets and be part of this incredible event and challenge yourself whilst supporting the RAF Museum.

The virtual race allows you to tailor the racing experience to fit your schedule and ability. You can choose to run the full distance at once or split the 10K into a few runs; walks, rows or a cycle. You have until 15 September, the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, to complete it.

If you choose to run the 10K and upload your result, we will publish a leader board online after the race. Every runner who completes the 10K in one go and submits their results by midnight on Monday 31 August will appear on the leader board.

There is no minimum age for the Spitfire 10K but we do recommend under 16’s are accompanied by an adult whilst running. You will receive your race pack with Roll of Honour card and t-shirt or vest (if purchased) before the race day, but please ensure you enter before the 14 August to be eligible for this. This date may vary for participants living abroad. Participants living abroad will receive their race pack via email. We will send you your unique Spitfire 10K medal after the race.

All race packs will be sent to the one address, if you would like them sent to different addresses, please complete a separate booking online for each participant.

Here is what you get when you sign up for the Spitfire 10K:

  • Fun and exercise while supporting the RAF Museum

  • Become a part of our Facebook community, meet like-minded people and receive regular updates that help you prepare for the race

  • Fun and interesting stories and facts about the Spitfire and the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain

  • Run with The Few! Our Roll of Honour card enables you to carry the name of a Battle of Britain Pilot with you on you run

  • We entertain you whilst you run – listen to playlists and podcasts on your run or walk

  • Your unique Spitfire 10K medal that we will send to you after the race

  • Your technical t-shirt or vest (if purchased) will be sent to you before the race day

Spitfire Family Run – The virtual 1K run for everyone!

Our Spitfire Family Run will also take place virtually this year. This 1K run is perfect for the younger ones but can also be completed by the whole family. Souvenir cotton Spitfire Family Run t-shirts are available in various children’s sizes when booking your ticket.

You will receive the race pack with medal, a certificate and the t-shirt (if purchased) in advance so you can complete it over the bank holiday weekend or when it suits you.

Spitfire 10K technical t-shirts and running vests:

Spitfire technical t-shirts (£10.00) and running vests (£12.00) can also be purchased when you book your Virtual Spitfire 10K. This year, if you sign up to take part, and purchase a t-shirt or vest, before 1 August, we will send them with your race pack before the event. If you enter the race after this date you will be sent a t-shirt with your medal. Participants living abroad will receive their t-shirt with their medal after the race
