Dear Runners,
Belle Vue Racers (BVR) are pleased to confirm our annual Hit the Trail Race 2027 will return on 3rd January 2027
The course will be held on the revised route used in January 2026. This revised course follows much of the original path, but still delivers the trademark sting in the tail! It’s slightly longer at just over 5 miles and offers both a challenge for experienced athletes and an achievable goal for newer runners—with the right training. Whatever your pace, expect a warm BVR welcome.
A map of the course and elevation profile is attached. A more interactive map will follow soon.
Please note the following:
- Belle Vue Racers (BVR) organises this race to support both Greenspace Volunteers and our community-based athletics club. Greenspace is a volunteer group helping maintain Reddish Vale for public enjoyment. BVR encourages community participation in sport. Around 40–60% of income (which varies depending on overall entry numbers) goes directly to staging the event, whether you attend or not. For that reason we do not offer refunds or deferrals
- If you can no longer take part, you may gift your entry to another runner you know. Changes can be made at registration on race day. Should you be injured or wake up and look out of the window on race day morning and decide, no not today thank you. You will at can at least feel somewhat reasured you are supporting other runners/ Greenspace.
- Previous course records will not stand for the new route.
- We will be out on the course in the days and weeks before the race. We will keep you updated on race conditions and ongoing risk assessment. This is a multi terrain race held in winter months. Conditions can be challenging underfoot. Please wear footwear with good stability and grip. Spikes are NOT suitable for the course. Please ensure you complete the medical contact details on the back of your race number. Please ensure you have suitable warm up and after race change of clothing. Please have emergency contact details available on the rear of your number.
- Should we have to cancel the race due to course conditions, we will let you know via Book it Zone and on BVR socials.
- Please collect numbers from numbers from Reddish Working Mens Club, Greg Street, Stockport, SK5 7LN. Remember this is about three quarters of a mile from the race start.
- Whilst the course is undulating over a 5 mile distance, often in muddy conditions. Both feedback and running the route ourselves tells us the course is both challenging, but enjoyable. That said, if you can't run 5k comfortably, this is probably not the course for you. Were not talking about speed here, but base running stamina at whatever pace you find comfortable. There is no pressure to break the land speed record, our marshalls will are happy to give the loudest cheer to those at the back
- We hope you enjoy the race.
Best Wishes
James
