Littleborough 10k

Cannonball Events is proud to introduce the Littleborough 10k.

Littleborough is a place made for running and many do not realise some of the great runs that can be had around it. With this in mind I have designed a fast and picturesque course that is run on good runnable roads, paths and some country lanes. The course, after the first start section is on a small gradual decline in terms of elevation (see elevation chart). This makes the race feel down hill and makes for a really enjoyable running experience.

Route Description

The course starts on the layby opposite the train station. From the start the race heads up Hollingworth Lake Road, past the Winepress Restaurant towards the rugby club, turns back on it self to re-join the lake path and then runs around the lake. Moving onto Milbury Drive the route crosses Milnrow Road heading down Wildhouse Lane. This road crossing will be marshaled to allow you to pass safely. The race the takes a right towards Clegg Hall Lane and runs parallel to the canal. This section brings us out near the level crossing at Smithy Bridge Rail station. Following a down hill run to Stopford Avenue the race runs down the street to join the cycle path. This track takes you traffic free into the center of Littleborough eventually coming out onto Halifax Road. Turning right and staying on the path the route then runs to the finish outside the Wheatsheaf pub in the centre. The New route cuts out the large hill at Smithybridge and narrow paths that would be run on at the top.

Races are Athlete bar code timed so results are highly accurate and available quickly. The course is certified by Course measurement and insured under UKA. Run this race for yourself, your running club or other clubs such as rugby / football clubs. See entry details and online entry links above.

Car Parking & Transport.

Trains and buses come into Littleborough Station from both Manchester and Yorkshire in the morning.

Car parking spaces are available but come early to avoid parking far away. Please try and car share to avoid congestion.

The best place to park is on the right hand side of Hollingworth Road anywhere past the metal gates on the right where the old Akzo Chemical factory entrance used to be. This is a large road with lots of space.

Other Places:

The station has a car park that can take about 30 cars and this is the nearest to registration. (OL158RA)

There is a small Car Park behind entrance of Simply Beautiful Flooring near the Start place. (OL150HA)

There is a small car park opposite Greggs the bakery on Victoria street entrance where the Tanning Shop is (Ol159BA)

There are spaces at the health centre (behind the police station) which is approximately 600M from race HQ (OL158HF)

Please avoid parking in the Cooperative super market near the race HQ (unless you are planning on buying something! in which case you will be fine)
