Cannonball Events is proud to introduce the Tandle Hill Cannonball Trail Race

Tandle Hill is a famous landmark in Rochdale that is known for its amazing views of of the Pennines and surrounding areas. The race has all the features people love about trail running. Country Lanes, woodland running, grassy trails and paths, undulations, amazing views and scenery and a very fast, long, downhill finish. 5.8 miles , 573 ft of climbing See the video below !!!

ROUTE DESCRIPTION

Run to the top of lane and cross the motorway bridge.

Then continue up for about 600 and turn right at metal style.

Then straight down the path till first metal gate (not the wooden one off the path)

Left turn into woods keeping the fencing to your left and follow marked tape on trees till you see the steps.

Be careful of the tree stumps on the terrain!!

Now cross the road and go through the gate into open green area of the park.

Go through the clearing in the trees and now follow the tape around the outer edge of the park. Beware of slippery bridges!!

When you come into the open area follow the flagged route round and go back through the trees until some steep steps appear on the left hand side. Here you can run up the steps or side of them to the monument.

Then run around the back of the monument and down the stairs to your right, to take you onto the path. Continue on a Tarmac path through the woods until the wood clearing. Now take the grassy path off to the left (just after the green metal bin), keeping the tress on left hand side again follow the tape and signs. After a nice downhill section you will see the marshal standing at the next turn pointing you through the clearing.

You will go down a small hill to a bridged stream and into the open grassy area. Again follow signs and tape till you come back to the road you crossed originally.

Now follow the original route back to the finish. Follow the tape back through the woods keeping fence to right. Get back to the gate then turn right back onto the path. Go along this path till the metal gate and turn left along the Motorway Bridge and left again and down the long track descent to the finish.
