** UPDATE **

Dear Runners,

Belle Vue Racers (BVR) are pleased to confirm our annual Hit the Trail Race 2026 WILL return on 4 January 2026.

Those living near Reddish Vale will know the bridge has not yet been repaired and there is still no estimated completion date. Depending on who you speak to, it remains unclear if full repairs will ever happen.

BVR members have been out testing a new route (see attached maps). This revised course follows much of the original path, but still delivers the trademark sting in the tail! It’s slightly longer at just over 5 miles and offers both a challenge for experienced athletes and an achievable goal for newer runners—with the right training. Whatever your pace, expect a warm BVR welcome.

A map of the new course and elevation profile is attached. A more interactive map will follow soon.

Please note the following:

  1. BVR organises this race to support both Friends of Reddish Vale (FoRV) and our community-based athletics club. FoRV is a volunteer group helping maintain Reddish Vale for public enjoyment. BVR encourages community participation in sport. We do not offer refunds or deferrals — around 50–60% of any income goes directly to staging the event, whether or not you attend.
  2. If you can no longer take part, you may gift your entry to another runner. Changes can be made at registration on race day.
  3. Previous course records will not stand for the new route.

We currently have 354 entries and look forward to a fantastic race over this exciting new course.
