This year, the Hades Hill is a counter in the both the Run the Moors Inter-Club's Fell Grand Prix and the Rochdale Harriers' Fell Championships.
After a tough uphill start, the route levels out before the rollercoaster ride over Brown Wardle, Middle Hill, Hades Hill and back before a field finish above the start line. Here are the details:
Race HQ: Red Lion PH, The Square, Whitworth, OL12 8PY.
Cut off: Due to the early nightfall at this time of year, we have to include a cut-off. Anyone not reaching the top of Brown Wardle (SD 89842 18684, 1.3 miles and 550ft of climb from the start) within 24 minutes from race start will be retired from the race. This equates to a steep uphill pace of about 12min/km or 18.5 min/mile.
Kit requirements: Please bring mandatory FRA kit (waterproof whole body cover (with taped seams and integrated attached hood), hat, gloves, map of the route, compass, whistle and emergency food). A decision will be taken on the evening whether to relax the kit requirements.
Distance 8 km / 5 miles. Ascent 360 m / 1181ft. Category BS.
