Event Description
The 2.9 mile route up Otley Chevin includes 900ft of climbing over a mixture of terrain from tarmac path to rocky trails, steps, mud tracks and grass. Generous podium, age category and first local prizes to be won.
We're also still waiting for someone to beat fell running legend Ian Holmes' 25-year course record of 17.04 mins - who's up for the challenge and the chance of a spot prize? Is this the year it goes?
Organised by Skyrac AC and sponsored by the Yorkshire Runner running shop. Race numbers can be collected from the Yorkshire Runner shop on Bondgate, Otley (LS21 1AD) from 6pm. On the day entries (£10) will also be available here up until about 10 minutes before race start.
The race start/finish is outside the car park next to Greenholme Mills carpets on Station Road, Otley LS21 3HX (free car parking is available at the large Sainsbury's supermarket, 2 minutes walk away).
The race starts at 7.30pm. Please make sure you are there in plenty of time – allow 5 minutes to walk from registration at the Yorkshire Runner shop to the start area on Station Road.
Note that there are no toilets at race headquarters (there is a public toilet in Otley town centre or toilets in Sainsbury's or nearby pubs).
The race is licensed by the Fell Runners Association and is classed as a category CS (C-short) fell race.
Mandatory kit requirements
Due to the short distance, nature of the route and time of year it is highly unlikely that you will be required by the race organiser to carry the full FRA kit of taped seams waterproofs, map, compass etc. However you are advised to bring this and have it handy in your car in case of inclement/extreme weather conditions on the day if the race organiser deems this appropriate.
The route will be marshalled and there will be an unmanned water station and free chocolate bars at the finish line.
