It’s time to put the fun back into running!
A lot of people don’t know this, but I was the first tube runner, not that Jonny Davies guy.
Back in February 2023, I completed my own tube challenge. OK, I only ran one tube line and he ran all 11, but who’s counting? What I did discover was how much fun it was and how little I focused on the 17 miles of running.
And so, this year, Go Beyond Challenge is introducing ‘Going Round in Circles’ – the London Circle Line Challenge. As the name suggests, the aim is to run between every underground station on the Circle Line (the yellow one!) – all 27 of them.
Entrants can take part as a team of two or individually for a bigger challenge. The race will start at the Volunteer Pub near Regent’s Park, where runners will collect their race number and tracker.
Runners will set off either clockwise or anticlockwise around the Circle Line, taking a selfie at each of the 27 stations as proof.
If you are in a team of two, one runner will travel by tube to the next meeting point while the other runs. You will then swap roles at each meeting point.
The total running distance is around 16 miles. There are no checkpoints, but plenty of shops if you need supplies. If you need to drop out, you can simply take the tube back to the start.
All finishers will receive a special Circle Line Challenge medal.
Sunday 23rd March 2025. Registration from 10:00 am.
The course isn’t marked and requires some navigation. A tracker with an indicative route and a sheet with What3Words locations for each station will be provided.
There are no official checkpoints, just plenty of shops along the route.
Registration opens at 10:00 am. Runners will collect their race number and tracker, and confirm their mobile phone number. The race will have a time trial-style start.
In accordance with UK Athletics guidance:
Space is limited at the pub, so runners may leave a jacket at their own risk.
Accommodation: Plenty of hotels in central London to suit all budgets.
Arrival by car: Parking is available nearby but can be expensive.
The Geo Tracks GPS Tracker is lightweight and easily fits in a small pocket. Family and friends can track your progress in real-time.
The event can be followed via the web link: Geo Tracks Live.
Yet to be set.
The race cut-off time is 4 hours.
All runners must carry the following items at all times. There will be random kit checks before the race.
