Back to event page

The FAQ section has been created to answer the more commonly asked questions by customers. If your question is not listed below, please contact the organiser using the contact details on the event page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How can I contact the event organiser?

A. The event organisers contact details are displayed at the top of the event listing page.

Q. Is the course marked?

A. No, but there are lots of footpath signs and we provide a tracker to make navigation a breeze and lots of help to keep you on track including a free voice navigation app

Q. What’s the course like?

A. The first half of the race is cross country and a mixture of paths, trails and roads. It’s muddy in places and a few hills to deal with. The second half is on well prepared canal tow paths.

Q. Is there a mandatory kit list?

A. Trail shoes are advised, if you have support or are happy to carry them then road shoes are ideal to have with you for the final section on the canal tow path. There are sections of trail which can become very muddy in wet conditions. It is essential to carry the items below. There will be random kit checks prior to the race . Runners must carry the following mandatory equipment at all times.

Fully Charged Mobile Phone including the numbers for the Race Director and Assistant Race Director (given at registration)
A powerbank to charge your phone if needed
Water Bottles/Bladder capable of carrying a minimum of 1 litre.
Survival Blanket: 1.4m x 2m minimum
Waterproof Jacket
Whistle
Headtorch or Body Torch
Spare batteries
Hat and Gloves
Long sleeved base layer or fleece top

Q. How many checkpoints are there?

A. There are 5 checkpoints with water and snacks.

Q. Do you cater for Vegans at checkpoints?

A. Yes we try to provide vegan snacks where possible – non vegans don’t know the difference!

Q. Are the road crossings marshalled?

A. No, you will need to cross a number of roads with care during the event.

Q. Where can I park?

A. There is no parking available at the pub car park, but there is a public car park within 5 minutes walking distance from the start in Wendover, or alternatively you can park at the train station, if you are returning via the train.

Q. How do I get back to the start at the end of the race?

A. The race finishes a short walk from Royal Oak Tube Station (Circle Line) and Paddington Station so you have easy access to the tube and mainline railway stations.

Q. Can I have support during the race?

A. Yes you can have your own crew – the golden rule is only do what would be possible for everyone else to do if they had a crew! Please make sure that your supporters do not get in the way of the race and other competitors.

Q. Where can people spectate?

A. Once restrictions are lifted and spectators are permitted – Chesham, Chorleywood, Horn Hill (Dumb Bell Pub) and Denham Country Park are good lcoations

Q. Do you have a bag transfer facility?

A. Yes we will transfer one bag per competitor no larger than a UK airport carry-on bag size 56 x 45 x 25 cm to the finish line. There are no bag drops at checkpoints.

Q. What happens if I get injured or want to drop out?

A. Please contact the Race Director or Assistant Race Director on the phone numbers shown on the front of your map book and make your way to the next checkpoint if possible or confirm your location. We will send the sweeper bus to collect you and transport you to the finish to collect your bag if you have one. If you make your own arrangements please ensure that you let us know other wise we will waste time and energy trying to locate you.

Q. What if I forget to return my tracker at the end of the race/if I drop out?

A. You will be required to return the tracker via recorded delivery, at your own cost. Any non returns will be charged at cost (which will be very expensive!)

Q. I am injured and can’t take part can I defer the day before the race?

A. No we require a minimum of 14 days notice before race day to process a deferral.
