Event Description

Fast and furious trails amongst Silverdale's finest woodland and Areas of Natural Beauty.

Pennine Trails are proud, delighted and excited in equal measure to host The Leighton Hall & AONB 10k Trail Race on the stunning grounds of Leighton Hall.

Area of natural beauty? ✔️ Tasty Trails? ✔️ Stunning Scenery? ✔️ This one's got the lot..

Route Description

Distance: 12k
Elevation: 800ft

When we begun seeking out the best trail routes in and around the Pennines, we promised ourselves we'd only pick routes with the following criteria... Beautiful scenery and exciting trails, but most of all, it has to be routes we'd love to do ourselves. It's safe to say, this one is genuinely the most fun we've had seeking out any of our routes so far!

This race shows the best of Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Beginning on the stunning grounds of Leighton Hall, the race begins with a fast first mile down a country lane, leading to the Leighton Moss RSPB's Nature Reserve. A dash through the North West's largest area of Reed Beds brings you a short climb through the old woods leading to Trowbarrow Quarry. In and out of fast paced trails, the race brings you to skirt the edge of Hawes Water, before looping back around through Leighton Hall's woodland.

Now... we brag about our races, we're proud of them! But this race finish we're REALLY proud of, as you'll struggle to find a more enjoyable finish in the country. Running back into the Ground of Leighton Hall, you'll race back down the hill into the finish, with sights of the Ingleborough in the distance and Leighton Hall in the foreground. We can't wait to see you're happy finishers smiles!

Parking is available at at Leighton Hall grounds.

Registration is open from 10:30am. The Race HQ is situated in at Leighton Hall.

Included In Entry:

  • Leighton Hall & AONB Trail Race Medal (New design for 2022)
  • Professional Race Photography
  • Pennine Trails Leighton Hall Trail Race Buff (New for 2022)
  • Other Goodies!

Our Pennine Trails t-shirts and vests will also be available at the Race HQ at £20 each or pre-order now at £15 for collection at the race.

You will be guided to the start, which is located at the Race HQ, at 12:50pm. Please make sure you're there on time to hear the important safety briefing beforehand. The race will then begin at 1:00pm.

As the weather in March can be somewhat temperamental, chilly and wet - we will make a judgment in the days leading up to the race whether runners require to take a waterproof jacket, gloves and hat with them whilst running. Trail or fell shoes are a must!
