Event Summary
Held under UK Athletics Rules (Licence TBC), the Retford Half Marathon attracts around 1,200 runners each year. It’s a key fixture for seasoned athletes from Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, as well as those tackling their first half-marathon. Many participants also use it as a warm-up for the London Marathon in April.
The 2026 race will again start and finish at Retford Oaks Academy, which provides excellent facilities for competitors and their supporters. After the 2025 event sold out, the field limit has been increased to 1,400. Chip timing will be in operation once more.
The Family Fun Run covers approximately 2 km on a revised course. There is no minimum age, but under-10s must be accompanied by an adult. Prizes will be awarded to the first three finishers under 17, and all participants receive a medal (optional commemorative Tshirt available to purchase).

Veteran category trophies (one per runner).

Course Description
The route sets off from Retford Oaks Academy on Babworth Road, skirts the edge of Retford, heads north along the old London Road, then returns via rural roads to finish back at the Academy. Course validation and re-measurement were completed in 2024.
