Q. How can I contact the event organiser?
A. The event organisers contact details are displayed at the top of the event listing page.
You can also contact event sponsor Up and Running (46 Fossgate, York) who will answer or pass on your questions.
Q. What surface do I run on?
A. The first 2 miles is Tarmac, then gravel and dirt trails. Wear firm shoes; it is uneven, but not much mud!
Q. When do I receive my number and confirmation?
A. You will receive a confirmation email from Bookitzone which you should print, to gain free entry into the forest.
You collect your number on the day from the Visitor's Centre (near the start) - get there early- there are 600 other people doing the same!
Q. What facilities are there?
A. There are plenty of toilets, a nice café and play areas. Plus 'Go Ape' (if you have any energy left) and a beautiful forest!
There are no changing facilities or showers so arrive ready to run and bring a towel and spare clothes.
Q. When is the prize presentation?
A. Prizes are presented about 12.30pm - if you are not available to collect your prize someone else can collect it. Otherwise it is sold and the funds given to charity.
The presentation is at the Visitor's Centre.
There are prizes in all age groups.
Q. Can I wear headphones, bring a dog, wear skates, push a buggy?
A. No to all of these questions. Sorry.
If you do any of the above, you will be disqualified and if your action causes harm or impedes emergency vehicles, YOU may be liable.
Q. What's the course like?
A. It is 10k (approx. 6 miles)
The fist 2 miles are a steady (not steep) climb up a Tarmac private road, then the course levels out for a mile on firm gravel. Next comes the lovely downhill on a gravel track, that is stunningly beautiful through the trees. Finally there is a level (ish) dirt track by the side of the beck to the finish.
