It's a Piece of Cake 10K is a community-focused, chip-timed road race in Boggart Hole Clough, North Manchester around one of the region's largest and most beautiful parks. The course takes in three undulating laps of the park, starting and finishing near the lake.
Don't let the event’s friendly atmosphere detract from the challenges of this undulating course, which includes Angel Hill which is steep but thankfully short! The challenge of the hills draws many runners of all abilities from far and wide and you can view the route on Strava.
The race starts at 10:30am and race numbers can only be collected in person from race HQ between 9:00-10:15am. There is NO registration on the day this year due to changes to UKA rules on providing medical information in advance.
Car parking is in the main car park off Charlestown Road with race HQ near the lakeside cafe, 4-5 minutes’ walk down the hill from the main car park.
The event offers cash prizes for first three finishers for each gender category, as well as other prizes for veterans and also importantly for cakes! Runners must be at least 18 years on the day of the race to enter.
We want to avoid environmental waste and so entrants before 3rd April will be given the choice of entry with a coloured technical T-shirt, or entry without (with reduced race fee). Anyone entering after 2nd April will not have the option of a T-shirt. There will be a water station on the course and fruit/snacks available at the end (plus cake!).
The event will start with a warm-up led by the excellent Kate Frain from Witness the Fitness, who provide personal training and community-based group training at locations around Manchester. Check them out if you're looking to get fit and have fun!
Each year we encourage those attending to bake a cake for sale afterwards to raise money for the George House Trust, a local charity supporting people living with HIV. Cakes will be available to buy after the race. We ask people to bring cash (ideally £3-5 in pound coins) as we plan to reduce the wait for cakes this year! Be aware that some cakes may contain allergens so check before you buy.
The cafe near the lake will be open for refreshments and this year we will have period products available in the cafe toilets. Please note that the club may take photos/videos to help promote the event in future - email the Race Director if you do not wish footage of you to be used. NB: it is a public venue and we cannot stop others from taking photos.

Event Terms
Entries cannot be exchanged or refunded after purchase unless the event is cancelled. If we cancel the event (for any reason) at least 90% of your entry fee will be refunded (to enable us to cover possible fixed costs such as booking fee) or you will be offered the opportunity to defer your place. Personal arrangements including travel, accommodation or hospitality relating to the race which have been arranged by you are at your own risk. Liability for the cancellation or rescheduling of the race will be limited to the refund as set out in these terms and conditions. We have made every effort identify and mitigate risks for those attending the race. We will not be responsible for any loss, theft or damage of your personal belongings, other than caused as a result of our negligence or other breach of statutory duty.
