Event Description
The Flatcap 5 is an annual 5-mile multi-terrain race hosted by Dewsbury Road Runners.
The course follows a gently undulating route and starts close to and finishes at the picturesque Leggers Inn pub and canal boatyard, which is close to Dewsbury town centre. The route takes in the Dewsbury-Ossett greenway, off road paths and the canal towpath.
The 2018 event is on Wednesday 1st August, 7.00pm start.
The Race limit is 350. All entries will be online only (entry closes at midnight on Wed 25th July).
All race proceeds will be donated to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. Please note that this year there will be no refunds or transfers. If you have entered and are unable to take part, then please let us know so your place can be allocated to someone on the waiting list. Your entry fee will then be donated to the YAA.
UKA Affiliated - £8 + Booking Fee (£1.30)
NON-Affiliated - £10 + Booking Fee (£1.50)
Don't forget to bring your FLAT CAP to wear during the race; whilst this is not compulsory it is encouraged to fit in with the spirit of the race and help us celebrate Yorkshire Day on August 1st.
There is a prize for the Best Flat Cap judged by our team so please feel free to add whatever accessories to your headgear to make you a WINNER. There will also be other prizes for the M/F winners & 1,2,3 team prizes; note to qualify for a team prize all team members must finish the race wearing their flat caps.
A complementary meal of pie n peas/ vegetarian (vegan) option will be available to all participants by presenting your finish position token at the food counter after the event. Please select your food preference when entering the race.
Unfortunately, dogs cannot run in the race, either without or with the owner.

Event Terms
1. The Race is organised by Dewsbury Road Runners under UKA laws (Permit No. 2018051).
2. Each entrant accepts that the organisers of the Flat Cap 5 will not be liable for any loss, damage, action, claim, costs or expenses, which may arise in consequence of their participation in this event.
3. Participants must not compete in the race if they are not in good health and will compete at their own risk.
4. Participants agree to have personal details stored on computer for entry processing.
5. We regret that all entry fees are non-refundable and are not transferable and may not be deferred towards a future event. In the unlikely event of abandonment or cancellation, all or part of the entry fee may be retained for the management and administration of the event.
6. Dewsbury Road Runners and / or the race director retain the right to refuse entry to anyone.
7. Participants must be capable of completing the full distance, start line to finish line. The Flat Cap 5 is a trail race run under UK Athletics rules and is run over a challenging multi-terrain course.
8. Participants must be 18 years or over on Wednesday, 1st August 2018.
9. On race day participants must follow all instructions given from event officials, police, fire and ambulance operatives throughout the duration of the event.
10. Failure to follow event rules/ event official’s instruction may result in disqualification, loss of prizes and removal from official results.
11. Numbers for successful entrants may be collected at the venue before the start of the race.
12. Race Numbers must be worn by all competitors.
13. The course is unsuitable for prams, pushchairs etc, the course is also unsuitable for wheelchair competitors.
14. “You agree that we may publish your Personal Information as part of the results of the Event and may pass such information to the governing body or any affiliated organisation for the purpose of insurance, licences or for publishing results either for the event alone or combined with or compared to other events. Results may include (but not be limited to) name, any club affiliation, race times, occupation and age category.”
