Participate in a family fun run/walk either 1km or 5km; to raise money for Mental Health charities.
Start your day by feeling invigorated and increase your enthusiasm for the rest of the day by taking part in this fun filled run/walk which ever you decide. Fancy dress is optional, however, if you choose to wear it, it will make you feel happier before you have even stepped out of your front door.
This event is in memory of Nathan Christy who lost his life to suicide almost 3 years ago. He would have turned 28 the day after the event. The event is to raise awareness of the stigma around mental health issues. We are encouraging people to start talking about their mental health issues with the aim of stopping the stigma surrounding mental health issues and preventing loss of life by suicide.
Race start time is 9.30am. Entrants to arrive 30 minutes before the run starts.
Runners/walkers can wear optional fancy dress. They should make their way to the front of the café near the childrens play area for the start line.
Entry fees (includes all booking fees):
£3 for children (upto 16 years)
£7 for adults (17+)
All participatns will receive a medal on completion of the race.
Course Description
The run/walk will start near the children’s play area in front of the cafe. The route continues past the crazy golf and onto the woodland paths. Following the paths the course crosses the miniature railway twice. You then come off the woodland path, turning left onto the main disused driveway. This is a downhill section, the route will continue over the canal bridge turning left just after passing the pig pen. At this point you will be back onto the woodland paths which maybe muddy or slippy dependant on weather conditions. Contiue to run/walk as you are approaching the driveway back into the woods. The course now begins a gentle incline. When you come out of the woodlands, turn left back onto the driveway, this will take you back over the canal bridge. Now stay left to follow the path back up the hill. This path will cross the driveway where you go back along the path you took out for the first 1k. As you reach the top, take a slight right, then left, where you will continue to finish on the straight path which leads you back to the cafe where you started.
