The Mast Race 10K

This is the rescheduled race (originally planned for Sunday 21st January 2018 which was cancelled due to snow.)

 

 

About The Race 

The race is a 10k chip timed multi terrain run (4.2 mile road 2 mile fell) on a out and back course (first 5k up hill last 5k downhill) from Smithills school to the summit of Winter Hill (Near Mast) and back. It is open to any ability of runner with a generous cut off time Approximately 2 hour (you must be 16 years and over to enter). You will receive a bespoke medal as you cross the finish line. The race is an official UKA meeting and will go on your power10 and the distance has been certified correct (course number 17/033).

1st Male £100 Cash , 2nd Male £50 and 3rd £25 + Award +Free Entry to 2018

Bonus Cash £50 First person to reach the Summit (you must finish the race to claim).

Bottle of wine to 1st Vet Male/Female 35/40/45/50/55/60/65/70.

Prize for First Male/Female Team.

Prize giving will take place at Race HQ as soon as the last runner has finished.

Race HQ 

Smithills School Pavillion,Smithills Dean Road, Bolton, BL1 6JS.

The Race will start and finish outside the School Pavilion (at the back of the Sports Centre)

Route 

The Route will be fully signposted and marshalled, it is not on traffic free roads so please take note of marshal and signposted instructions. The route will be accurately measured with a UKA Permit. The course is an out and back course first 5k up last 5k down hill, on the trail section please keep to the left hand side going up to allow faster runners to come down the hill on the left hand side. A sign will be placed at the summit you must run round the sign before heading back downhill (your race number will be noted at this section so please have your race number visible). There is a feed station at 2 mile and 4 mile section (no parking is allowed at this area other than authorised vehicles.

Toilets & Changing    

Toilets, showers and changing will be available at the Pavilion Room (Race HQ)

Parking

Free parking is available via the middle drive at Smithills school and will be signposted (parking opens at 8am).

Please be aware the Car Park closes at 9:50 am to 10:05am and again 10:30am to 11:30am to allow runners to Start/Finish traffic free,

if you intend to make a quick exit when you finish please park on Smithills Dean Road.

Important Information 

Please Collect your Race number and Chip on the day at Race HQ between 8am and 9:45am.

 You must have your Race Number visible during the race at all times.

Stansfield Sports Injury Clinic will be on hand to offer post race massage and advice.
