Q. Do we all run together?
A. We will assess your ability during weeks 1 and 2 and split you into the appropriate group for your speed and ability.
Q. How many people will be in each group?
A. There'll be roughly 12 people per group with each group being lead by an England Athletics qualified run leader with the additional support of other competent, experienced runners within each group.
Q. If I feel the group I'm running with is too fast / too slow will I be able to swap groups?
A. Yes of course, just speak to your run leader who will happily advise which group to try the following week. We want you to find a group you feel comfortable and happy with so you enjoy the course.
Q. Do we go out in the rain?
A. Yes, we will run in the majority of weather conditions, please bring appropriate clothing to run in (waterproof jacket, long sleeve top etc) and if necessary a change of clothes for after the run.
Q. Does the course run on the Bank Holiday Monday?
A. Yes
Q. What time does the course start and finish each Monday?
A. Week 1 - arrive at Club for 6pm to register and attend a quick briefing, the warm up will start at 6:30pm. Changing facilities are available before the start but not at the end of the session.
Week 1 is a training night based on small sessions run on either grass or a school playground. We will finish around 8pm.
Week 2 - 7 - Start at 6:30pm prompt for the warm up, we will be out on the roads each week initially progressing to some off road and slightly hillier routes, nothing too silly! There will be no changing facilities available for these weeks. Finish around 8pm
Week 8 - The Fun Run! Everyone is invited to take part in the fun run (a distance of either 5k or 10k), arrive at 6pm to register, finish at 8pm with the bar open afterwards until 9:30pm and a buffet being provided by the members. Changing facilities will be available before and after the run.
Q. How far will we run?
A. This will be dependent on the group you are in, as a rough estimate:
Week 1 - Exercise bases showing you warm up and running techniques
Week 2 - 1 to 2 miles
Week 3 - 2 to 3 miles
Week 4 - 2.5 to 3.5 miles
Week 5 - 2.5 to 3.5 miles
Week 6 - 3 to 4.5 miles
Week 7 - 4 to 5.5 miles
Week 8 - The Fun Run up to 6 miles
Q. What should I wear to run in?
A. You don't need anything fancy to run in, just a good pair of running shoes that are the right fit for you and comfortable clothes you would normally exercise in (and are appropriate for the weather!)
