RACE INFORMATION

We’re looking forward to welcoming runners on Tuesday 3 August at 7pm for the second 5k race at Cowm Reservoir this summer.

 

Money raised from this event will go to 'New Start - Wythenshawe Hospital Transplant Fund' (www.newstartcharity.org).

 

 

Pre-race 

Please don’t attend if you or anyone you live with has covid symptoms. Come dressed ready to run as there are no changing facilities at the event. Parking is limited so we advise you to arrive early, and park on Cowm Park Way South (OL12 8AH).  

 

Registration is at the Cock & Magpie pub on Cockhall Lane, OL12 8BJ. Toilets are also available.  

 

Please arrive in good time to register and collect your race number. The start is a 10 minute walk uphill to the boulders at the top of Back Lane, so we advise you do not arrive any later than 6.30pm. 

 

There are no entries on the night. All runners must pre-register in advance through BookitZone.

 

 

The route 

The race will use Route B which proved popular at the last event (see attached image). Please start the race according to your anticipated finish time e.g under 20 mins at the front and over 35 mins towards the back.  

 

It is a fast downhill start, so please be careful. You will then pass in front of the water ski centre, run along the straight before turning right to do two clockwise laps of the reservoir. Please run down the road before turning right to approach the finish in the usual place on the lane. Marshals will be present throughout the course should you require any assistance. 

 

 

Post-race 

Once you have crossed the line, please use the gate on your right to exit the finish area and walk up the hill before using the pavement to come back down to the Cock & Magpie. Please keep your distance from those still running down the road and lane. 

 

Free sandwiches will be available in the pub afterwards, but you'll need to bring your own money to purchase drinks. There is a large beer garden at the rear where prizes will be presented at 8pm for first, second and third places plus best in age categories.
