This event is for both seasoned runners/walkers and also families which wish to join us for a shorter, leisurly walk around the Moors.

8-mile Family Walk
18-mile Walk/Run
The route takes you through the spectacular West Pennine Moors and starts and finishes at Bibbys Farm.
18-mile goes through White Coppice, Brinscall, Great Hill and Rivington.
The 8-mile family walk visits Healey Nab, the Anglezarke reservoirs and Rivington Village.
Start times are staged:
09:30 18-mile Walkers
10:00 18-mile Runners
10:30 8-mile Family Walkers
The fee includes refreshments at most checkpoints and a 2 course hot meal at the finish with a commemorative badge and certificate
I agree to abide by the rules made by the Organisers and to follow the Country Code. I have sufficient knowledge, experience, equipment and navigation skills to take part in a long distance walk in all conditions. I confirm that I am in good health and have no medical condition that may cause undue concern or inconvenience to others. I confirm that I participate at my own risk and that the Organisers cannot be held responsible or liable for any accident or injury sustained by me or any property lost during the event. I confirm that if I walk with a dog that it is covered by Third Party Liability Insurance and that I will keep it under control at all times. I understand that the personal information submitted as part of this entry form will be held by the event organisers for a period of up to three years after the event for purposes of managing this event only.
- The 18 mile Challenge Hike shall be open to Walkers over the age of 14 on the day of the event. Any hiker under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
- Scout parties shall follow the requirements of “POR”.
- The object is to complete the route by visiting all the check points in the correct order and return to Bibbys Farm by 7.30pm.
- Participants must observe the request of the marshals and may only retire at roadside checkpoints when tallies must be surrendered and official transport back to the start must be used.
- Participants will be retired or redirected onto the shorter route if, in the opinion of the check point officer, he/she is unfit to continue or arrives after the cut off time.
- If you are intending to bring a dog, please check closer to the time where further information will be available.
- Each entrant must carry the minimum equipment as follows, kit checks will take place:
MUG FOR DRINKS, compass, torch with spare set of batteries and bulb, whistle, survival bag, first aid kit, hiking trousers (not jeans), Waterproof jackets and trousers, suitable footwear, emergency rations and food for the day.
- The campsite has a no dog policy. However provision has been made for them to be left in the car on the car park, during registration and meal after the walk.
- The Organisers’ decision is final and they cannot accept responsibility for any mishap, injury or loss sustained during the event. The Organisers retain the right to incorporate any additional rules as they think necessary.
You should collect your race pack/number/item at the venue on the day of the event. Please arrive in good time.
