St. Annes Carnival 5K

The St. Anne's Carnival 5K

Run amidst St. Anne's seafront attractions and holidaymakers at the height of the summer and in conjunction with the town carnival, this race has a truly festive atmosphere.

The flat, accurately measured 5k course marked with kilometre signs takes competitors from the wide walkway adjacent to the pitch and putt course to the western end of the attractive Fairhaven Lake and back to finish close to the pier.

While ideally suited for novice runners because of its flatness and off-road location, it nevertheless provides something to interest the most talented athletes. The race awards prizes for the top three men and women, the first finisher in veteran age groups, the first boy and girl in three junior age categories and the first men's and women's team (three to count). All finishers receive a quality souvenir and there are spot prizes for the lucky ones. Over 13s are eligible to compete.

The race HQ, where registration and prize giving takes place, is in the comfortable Lord Derby Pub, approximately 500m from the start and 100m from the finish. There are toilets, a bar and a free buffet for competitors laid on here after the race.  Additional facilities, including toilets, changing and showers, are available at St. Anne's Swimming Pool.  The race starts at 11am.

Since its inception in 2007, this race has contributed hundreds of pounds to the St. Anne's Carnival Charity, chosen each year by the incoming Carnival Queen, and it is intended to continue with this tradition.
