Q. How can I contact the event organiser?
A. The event organiser's contact details are displayed at the top of the event listing page. Enquiries can be sent to Andy Fawcett ( andyfawcettmusic@gmail.com ) who is the manager of Up & Running, 8 Colliergate, York.
Q. What surface do I run on?
A. The first 2 miles is Tarmac, then gravel and dirt trails. Wear firm shoes; it is a little uneven, but not much mud!
Q. When do I receive my number and confirmation?
A. You will receive a confirmation email from Bookitzone which you should print (WARNING...emails occasionally go into your SPAM file !!!), to gain free entry into the forest.
You collect your number & timing chip on the day from the Visitor's Centre (near the start) - GET THERE EARLY - there are 599 other people doing the same!
Q. What facilities are there?
A. There are plenty of toilets, a nice café and play areas. Plus 'Go Ape' (if you have any energy left) and a beautiful forest!
There are no changing facilities or showers so arrive ready to run and bring a towel and spare clothes. We pay for your entry (bring the family at no extra cost) into the forest, so be our guest and stay all day!
Q. When is the prize presentation?
A. For Covid safety we have once again decided to post all prizes. Yes, it takes a little of the romance from the event, but many of our volunteers are front line NHS workers & both your & their safety is paramount.
There are prizes in all age groups.
Q. Can I wear headphones, bring a dog, wear skates, push a buggy?
A. No to all of these questions. Sorry. We are not licensed to allow dogs on the course.
If you do any of the above, you will be disqualified and if your action causes harm or impedes emergency vehicles, YOU may be liable.
Q. What's the course like?
A. It is 10k (approx. 6 miles)
The fist 2 miles are a steady (not steep) climb up a Tarmac private road, then the course levels out for a mile on firm gravel. Next comes the lovely downhill on a gravel track, that is stunningly beautiful through the trees. Finally there is a level (ish) dirt track by the side of the beck to the finish. Most runners wear trail shoes, but many wear road shoes.
Q. Where can I find the QR code to scan at the parking payment machine?
A. Save/Download/photograph the QR code file below & use this at the car park machines for free exit (it won’t work at the barriers).
