Event Description

Hornsea Sixth Form, in partnership with Hornsea Rotary Club, are organising the first ever family fun run at Hornsea School.  The run is a non-competitive event so whilst we welcome runners of all abilities, the event is perfect for those entering their first run.  The route will start in the middle of the school, pass around the school fields and go out into Hallgarth Park before finishing back in the school.  As a result, the terrain is grass and tarmac and fairly level.  All finishers will receive an exciting goodie bag and a certificate.

All ages are encouraged to take part and you can run, jog, walk or skip!  The event is an opportunity to get fit and have fun!

There will be a fancy dress competition with prizes for the best costumes.  Be as imaginative as you like!

In addition to the run, there will be lots of other family-friendly attractions on the day so you can enjoy yourself after finishing the course or you can guarantee your supporters will be entertained!  Attractions will include:

- Refreshments

- Tombola

- Smoothie bike

- Stalls and promotion stands

- Bouncy castle

- Face painting

The event is being organised by students at Hornsea Sixth Form to raise money for their volunteering in Cambodia this summer.

In June 2017, a group of Hornsea Sixth Form students will be travelling to Cambodia for two weeks to undertake a voluntary project.  Our target is to raise £2000 to help buy sanitation resources to build three wash rooms and toilets in a very poor village north of Siem Reap.  We will be spending two weeks supporting this village in the summer, which although will be an amazing experience for the students going, it will also be very challenging as we will be living in the village also seeing at first hand the hardship there.

Siem Reap Provence is the third poorest Provence in Cambodia.  It covers 12000 km2 with 100 communes and 921 villages accounting for about 1,000,000 people.  30% live below the national poverty line which in itself is lower than many other South East Asia countries.

Students have paid for this visit themselves but are now looking to fundraise at least £2000 to purchase building materials and educational resources for their project work in the village.

Entry fees:

Adult - £5.00

Child (Under 12) - £3.00

Please note that booking online includes a booking fee of £1.30 per adult and £1.20 per child.
