FAQ Up the Odda 2018 – Event ID# 5539

Q. Is this race for me?

A. A challenging course, this approximately 10km race is a two lap route, run mainly through woodland, along farm tracks and over fields. There are both steep climbs and descents within the race. You will be rewarded with stunning views! The 5k Up the Odda Duo is one lap each of the same challenging course.

Q. Can I run the route before race day?

A. The route is run mainly on public footpaths. There are some sections however, that leave the public footpaths and cross private farmland. This is allowed with kind permission of the landowners on race day only. Please do not jeopardise the future of the race by running these sections before the race. You will find the Garmin routes on the Facebook page.

Q. Is there somewhere safe to leave my belongings?

A. There will be a baggage storage area within the school. Items left are done so at your own risk.

Q. Where shall I park?

A. Parking is very limited within the village. There will be marshals on hand to direct you to suitable spaces at the edge of the village. Where possible please car share.

Q. What refreshments will be on offer?

A. A hot meal, tea, coffee, cold drinks as well as a selection of home baked goodies by the Hawksworth Mums will be on sale at the school after the race.

Q. Are there toilet facilities?

A. A. Yes, toilets at the school are in use as well as porta loos on the school field. Please allow plenty of time in case a queue forms!!

Q. Are there water stations?

A. Yes, there is one water station on the route (10k runners will pass this twice) and water at the finish.

Q. Can I run with my dog?

A. Sorry, but no. The route crosses land where there is livestock and the landowners have refused permission, please do not jeopardise the future of the race by taking a dog with you, even on a lead.

Q. What do I get when I finish?

A. A race memento will be handed out at the school. Please proceed back to the school when you have finished (a short walk from the finish line at the top of the Odda)

Q. Are there age category prizes?

A. There are age category prizes in the 10k race. The Up the Odda Duo has prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for Male, Female and Mixed teams.

Q. If I turn up on the day will I be able to run?

A. No, we do not accept any running entries on the day. The running race is always sold out months before the event.

Q. Are there age limits for entering?

A. Yes, the minimum age for running the 10k or 5k is 17. We have junior races for 8-11 year olds and 12-16 year olds.

Q. How do you tell us the results?

A. These will be published on our Facebook page as soon as possible after the event, usually later that afternoon.

Q. I’ve entered but can no longer take part, can somebody else take my place?

A. Yes, but we will need to know the full details of the replacement person. Please supply the following information of the replacement:

Q. When does the 2018 event race take place?

A. On Saturday the 5th of May

Q. When will I get my running number?

A. The running numbers will be handed out at race HQ, Hawkswoth C of E School on the morning of the race. Please allow ample time to park, walk to the school and collect your number and also keep in mind that it is a short walk to the start from there. We will open at 8.30am.
