The FAQ section has been created to answer the more commonly asked questions by customers. If your question is not listed below, please contact the organiser using the contact details on the event page.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. How can I contact the event organiser?

A. The event organisers contact details are displayed at the top of the event listing page.

Q. Can I wear headphones in the race?

A. Yes. The Wigan 10k is run on closed roads and headphones are permitted.

Q. When will I receive my running pack?

A. All runners will receive their running packs some time between August 1st and September 1st. The Wigan 10k is organised by a charity and to keep costs to a minimum, all runners registering before August 20th will be asked to pick up their pack from the 10k offices. You will be emailed details of our address and opening times covering a 10-day window to collect your racepack or have a friend collect for you. ID is not required if you are collecting on another person’s behalf and you do not need to inform us if you are picking the pack up.

Don’t worry if pick up is not possible, as your racepack will be automatically posted to you after the 10-day window has passed.

Q. Will my pack be posted out if I sign up after August 20th?

A. Anyone signing up after midnight on Tuesday, August 23rd, must pick up their racepack from the 10k office before 4pm on Friday September 2nd or from the Race Information Point on the day of the race. The Race Information Point will close approximately 30 minutes before the start of the race.

Q. What time does the race start?

A. The race starts at 10am.

Q. Can I run for another charity?

A. The Wigan 10k is organised by Joining Jack and we are very grateful to all the runners who choose to raise money for the charity. Runners are free to raise funds for other local and national charities. The Wigan10k team are extremely proud of the funds that have been raised for Joining Jack and a host of other charities. Runners not wishing to run for a charity are also welcome.

Q. Can I walk the course?

A. We have lots of people who prefer to walk the course. We ask that they are at the back of the queues at the start line and also ask that runners look for the specially allocated pace-setter boards who will give you the best idea of which group of runners to start the race with.

Q. Are there pace setters at the start line?

A. Pace setters will be available and located at different points along the start line. Look out for the pace setter boards signalling the pace setters time. Pace setters will be available for runners looking to achieve any of the following times 40mins, 45 mins, 50 mins, 55 mins, 60 mins, 65, mins and 70 mins.

Q. I am injured and no longer able to run, can I defer my entry or get a refund?
