How To Make Your Fun Run…Fun!

We all know that such events are always orchestrated for the benefit of a great cause, and there’s always going to be a more serious message behind it, but the fact of the matter is you need to make sure that your race entrants have a great time while trying to do their bit for charity.

The last thing any race organiser wants to see is a swamp of miserable faces as they show up to the event, so we thought we’d help you out by giving some top tips on making your fun run more fun!

  • Weather
  • Now, we don’t expect you to have some sort of influential powers over what the weather is doing, but you certainly need to bear in mind what kind of conditions your runners will be happy to run in. Of course, you can’t stop the rain clouds any more than you can force the sun to come out, but we recommend running any fun runs when the weather is meant to be cool and dry.

This may sound like a silly piece of advice, but you need to remember that the weather will have a severe impact on the atmosphere of the event. Too hot and people won’t be able to run as well, while too wet will cause all kinds of safety problems and generally make everyone miserable.

  • Theme
  • One of the most effective ways of making sure your event is a load of fun is by implementing some kind of theme. This could be anything from a fairy tale theme to a sport theme- whatever it is you think that your entrants will enjoy the most! This kind of thing can also help in your marketing efforts- after all, who wouldn’t smile at the thought of doing a run dressed as a Disney princess?

  • Costumes
  • This leads us on to encouraging people to wear costumes. When all’s said and done, fun runs aren’t supposed to be competitive, although we understand that plenty of people will be hoping to achieve personal bests. So we always like to see a few hilarious costumes on the route, and it’s always a good idea to encourage this for your race.

The sight of a guy dressed as Big Bird is a clear reminder to people that this race is a bit of fun and for a great cause. Ultimately, it will help people to relax and stop taking the race too seriously, while also bringing a few smiles around the place.

If you’re trying to get more people signed up to your running events, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can list it right here on BookitZone! Contact us today if you want to show off your event right here, and get people signed up for your next fun run!
