Running Tips For Beginners

Someone who is considered an expert in a specific subject was also once a beginner. After all, everyone has to start somewhere!

Here at BookitZone, we want to ensure that each and every person with an interest in running is able to do so safely and within their means. After all, whilst the veteran may be used to running long distance, a beginner must remember that slow and steady wins the race! Here are a few tips to ensure that you make the most of running …

Get the Right Shoes

Running causes a lot of stress on your knees and feet which means that it is important to invest in the right shoes in order to ensure that you don’t injure yourself. In fact, the worst thing that you can do when it comes to running is wear unsupportive shoes like converse or vans, as they won’t cushion your soles and will cause all kinds of damage as your feet pound the ground.

Rest Days are Important

Taking a day off from running is an important part of the process because your body needs time to recover from the exercise that you are carrying out, especially when you are a beginner. If you don’t give your body the time it needs to recuperate, you are going to reduce the effectiveness of your workouts as you won’t be able to give 100%.

Log Your Runs

It may seem counterproductive to track your runs when they aren’t complete and only consist of periods of walking and jogging however logging your progress is a great way to stay motivated. After all, it is clear proof of how far you have come which you can use in order to alter your workouts to ensure they are effective or give yourself a boost when you need it most.

Running is not only a great way to stay in shape, it can become a brilliant way to socialise. In fact, many runners take a part of weekly clubs and running events around their hometown! If you’re a beginner runner looking to compete in your first 5k make sure you follow our tips in order to ensure that you are competing safely!
